2009 Mighty Marmon Muster
IT WON'T BE A PARTY TO REMEMBER UNLESS YOU'RE
THERE!
This Muster will be held in conjunction with the
13th annual Dayton Concours de Elegance to be held on Sunday, September 20th.
One of their featured cars will be the MARMON. We want to make a very good
showing with our Marmons and we have some beautiful cars in the Club to show off. The Dayton Concourse has asked us
for several years to feature Marmons and we think the timing on this is perfect. They field about 200 cars on the
show field and one is more beautiful and different than the next. Our Marmons will fit in perfectly.
Our host hotel will be the Dayton Marriott which is centrally located in Dayton
and easy to get to. They have ample parking for all trailers right outside their doors. We are looking into some
very interesting daily tours and will certainly include a full day at the U.S. Air Force Museum. The Museum has grown
tremendously since our last Dayton Muster in 1996 and it will be hard to see all of it even allowing that much time.
The Concours is being
held in the historical Carillon Park which is 65 acres of beautiful
green lawns and the perfect setting for a show such as this. If you had been
in Dayton two weeks ago, you could have seen them moving four
buildings which had been part of the Wright Brothers shop, as well as Col. Edward Deeds and Charles Kettering shops (inventors
of the electric starter). This was quite a sight to see as they were moved about
five miles through the streets of Dayton totally intact, and
it all went off without a hitch. I tell you this so you can imagine what other
treasures you will see there.
Besides seeing old
friends and making new ones, we plan to visit D & D Restoration Shop
(one of the finest in the country), a very unusual Bicycle Museum, an
interesting museum
featuring Annie Oakley and Lowell Thomas and
the Waco Museum (Waco Airplanes were used in WWll). You will even have a chance
to visit an actual Marmon Museum
and see a variety of cars together with a large collection of Marmon memorabilia. You
won’t want to miss the Technical Session where you can discuss all of your restoration and mechanical problems while
the ladies enjoy a special program just for them. Add to this our closing banquet
to be held at a local Porsche Museum, which
is one of the most unique you have ever seen, and you will have some idea of what you will be missing if you don’t spend
September 19th to the 23rd in Dayton, Ohio.
Be sure and mark these dates on your calendar and watch for more information in
the Marmon Newsletter and also here on the web site.
